We don't have to travel very far from our house to feel like we are on a mini-vacation. As if we don't get enough mini-vacations. So for my quarter-of-a-century-plus-ten years-birthday we stayed overnight in one of my favorite and one of the most adorable towns on the Weinstraße, Deidesheim.
The Steigenberger Hotel is part of a hotel group in Europe. Deidesheim's hotel is decorated in 1930's, 40's, and 50's style, it had a country like setting with only a few minutes walk to town and had a great breakfast. We walked through town on the cold, snow day and it was still as lovely as it was back in May when I visited. We found a cozy wine bar for the better part of the afternoon before a scrumptious German dinner at Deidesheimer Stuben. Granted it wasn't my first pick, it was still great! After we were told we didn't need reservations, we found out that we really did need them. Lesson learned! None the less, it was a very nice birthday with my hubby.
